Lonnie Johnson tinkered so much that the neighborhood kids called him “The Professor.” He won first place in a state-wide science fair in high school and embarked on a career in the military. He later worked at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory to work on the Galileo mission to Jupiter and the Cassini mission to Saturn. Despite excelling in all these fields, he will forever be known as the person who made a better squirt gun.
