In celebration of WORT’s 44th birthday, we spend the hour with friend of the show and political scientist Leo Panitch to get his take on Brexit and class politics in England, Zionism, the labor movement, and more. He also previews his article “Class Politics, Socialist Policies, Capitalist Constraints” from the forthcoming issue of The Socialist Register, Beyond Market Dystopia: New Ways of Living, co-edited with Greg Albo.

Leo Panitch is a professor of political science at York University and co-editor of The Socialist Register. He has written many books, including Renewing Socialism: Democracy, Strategy, and Imagination and The Making of Global Capitalism with co-author Sam Gindin. His most recent work is The Socialist Challenge Today: Syriza, Sanders, Corbyn, co-authored with Sam Gindin (Merlin Press, 2018).
