In this episode of Los Nazarenos podcast we examine the name of God communicated in scripture, or lack thereof. We'll be reflecting on Moses's encounter with the burning bush from Exodus Chapter 3 (follow along here). 

Then we'll compare this with some reflections from St. Bonaventure from his work The Journey of the Mind to God (check it out here!). 

We'll also revisit Bonaventure's concept of the Veiled Word of God and reflect on the appearance of the messenger of the Lord to Hagar in Genesis Chapter 16 (here!).

A friend suggested we look at the the topic of the way of beauty in Franciscan Theology. 

We start by examining Francis of Assisi's Canticle of Brother Sun, and how it orients our hearts to the beauty of God's creation in the elements, the creatures of the world, and humanity. 

We then build on this theme by using St. Bonaventure's Triple Way and notion of vestiges that lift up our heart to God. 

We round out our conversation by examining the theology of Blessed John Duns Scotus and his notion of Haecceity, and how moral actions can be ordered to beauty.

On this episode we are join by our friend Hannah Berland whose research is in Christian and Muslim dialogues, specifically examining the encounter between St. Francis of Assisi and Sultan Malik al-Kamil. We'll discuss this encounter and reflect on what it can teach us about inter-religious dialogue today.

In this episode we catch up after a long break from podcasting. A lot has changed since the original release of season one, so we're catching y'all up with where we're at. Justin has a new job, a new baby, and our hosts now share a special bond ordained by God!

After we catch up we'll reflect on Justin's Holy Thursday experience and how he observed the stark differences between the worship of different cultures and communities. We'll be discussing specifically how worship looks from the perspective of cultures who have traditionally played more dominate roles in past movements of colonization versus those expressions of the peoples whom were oppressed under colonial rule.
