In this episode, Thomas and Caleb go over the experience of colonization in the United States and in South Carolina specifically, and then go over the different resources available to you in order to make a difference.
The bulk of this episode is spent with Jerad Green, an advocate for indigenous issues and one of the founding members of Decolonize Clemson. As an advocate, Jerad has dedicated his work to supporting the needs of historically marginalized communities through retention initiatives, leadership development, identity formation, and mentoring. As a diversity and inclusion educator, Jerad has led several strategic diversity and inclusion initiatives, implemented small and large-scale cultural awareness programs, facilitated dialogues and workshops around social justice, and provided educational trainings for diverse groups on intercultural competence. Jerad has an in depth knowledge about issues surrounding race and racism and how institutionalized oppression creates barriers for marginalized communities in their pursuit of excellence.
