Love Always

From the pit to the palace in a single day. Joseph spends years forgotten in prison, until Pharaoh’s dreams of fat cows, thin cows, and swallowed grain leave Egypt’s wise men speechless. Joseph, who credits God for the interpretation, predicts seven years of abundance followed by seven of famine, then lays out a plan to survive it. Pharaoh promotes him to second-in-command, and Joseph gets a new name, a wife, and two sons whose names tell the story of his healing. When the famine hits, the man once left for dead is the one holding the bread. God’s timing may feel slow, but it’s never late.

Joseph interprets the dreams of Pharaoh’s cupbearer and baker, only to be forgotten by the very man he helped. But what looks like a setback is still part of God’s bigger plan.

Sometimes, the waiting feels unfair. Sometimes, people forget. But God never does.

Romans 8:28 reminds us that all things work together for good—not just the good, but even the painful, forgotten, and unexpected moments.

Joseph’s story reminds us that God is still working, even when we cannot see it.

Genesis 39 finds Joseph a slave in Egypt, in Potiphar's house, and thriving, because "the Lord was with Joseph." He rises to run the whole household, only to be falsely accused by Potiphar's wife after refusing her advances and thrown into prison. Even there, the same line repeats: the Lord was with him, and he prospers again.

Joseph's integrity in Potiphar's house and his resilience in prison aren't just moral lessons; they're proof that God's plan doesn't pause when circumstances get worse.

We talk about staying faithful when you're wronged for doing right, and trusting a promise that's still being fulfilled even in a prison cell.

Genesis 38 pauses Joseph's story for Judah's own. He marries off his sons to Tamar, but when tragedy strikes twice, he breaks his promise to her rather than risk his last son.

Left with nothing, Tamar takes a bold, disguised stand to demand what she's owed, and forces Judah to confront his own failure. His response, "She is more righteous than I," flips the whole story.

This episode sits with broken promises, self-protection at someone else's cost, and how God writes the overlooked into the line that leads to Christ.

Genesis 37:12–36 is where the story turns dark. Joseph is sent by his father to check on his brothers, and instead walks into a plot to kill him.

Twenty shekels later, Joseph is on his way to Egypt, and Jacob is left grieving a son he believes is dead.But Joseph being dragged to Egypt in chains isn't a detour from God's plan.

It's the plan, in motion.We'll look at what it means that human betrayal, cruelty, and sin can be the exact mechanism God uses to keep a promise made generations before, and what that says about obedience, timing, and trusting a word you may not live to see fulfilled.

Genesis 37 opens with a coat: a gift from a father that says more than fabric ever should. Jacob's obvious favoritism toward Joseph, and Joseph's own dreams of ruling over his brothers, light a fuse that's been burning since the day he was born the favorite.

This episode looks at what happens inside a family when one child is set apart, deliberately or not, and how quickly love that isn't shared evenly curdles into resentment.

Genesis 35 is a chapter of transitions. God calls Jacob back to Bethel, and before he goes, Jacob does something significant, he purges his household of foreign idols, burying them beneath a tree. At Bethel, God renews His covenant and confirms the new name given earlier: Israel. Rachel dies giving birth to Benjamin, Reuben commits a shocking betrayal, and Isaac's life comes to a close: buried by both Esau and Jacob together. This episode traces the weight of this chapter: what it costs to let go of what you've been carrying, and how loss and legacy so often arrive side by side.

Genesis 34 opens with tragedy; Dinah, Jacob's daughter, is violated by Shechem, a Hivite prince who then wants her as his wife. What follows is a tense negotiation between two families, a shocking act of deception involving circumcision, and a massacre carried out by Dinah's brothers, Simeon and Levi.But at the center of it all is Jacob, strangely silent when he first hears the news, and later more concerned with his family's reputation than with justice for his daughter. This episode digs into that silence, the brothers' brutal response, and the haunting question they leave us with: "Should he treat our sister like a prostitute?"

This episode wrestles with a personal conviction: obedience. It's easy to obey God in the small, private things, where no one's watching and nothing seems to hang on it. But Moses is the example here, a man whose obedience carried the weight of entire generations, and whose every fear had a corresponding answer from God.Trust Him. Know Him intimately. Believe He wants the best for us- more than we want it for ourselves.
