👩🏾🦳 Anna the Prophetess was a picture of contentment - Luke 2:36-38
I was asked to speak on Anna the prophetess several years ago and when I realized there were only 3 verses on her to study I sought Yah, and what He share with me about her was the fact that this woman was a picture of contentment.
Our level of contentment helps us answer the question, “Is God enough?” in this episode I am sharing the importance of contentment and how to cultivate it in world that profits off of discontentment.
📝Scripture commands us to be content:
* 1 Timothy 6:6-8: “But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.”
* Philippians 4:11-12: “Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound... I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.”
* Hebrews 13:5: “Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.”
* Proverbs 19:23: “The fear of the LORD tendeth to life: and he that hath it shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil.”
* Ecclesiastes 5:10: “He that loveth silver shall not be satisfied with silver; nor he that loveth abundance with increase: this is also vanity.”
* Psalm 23:1: “The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.”
Discontentment is a short path to suffering.
☝️How to cultivate contentment in a discontented world
Cultivate: to develop or improve by education or training; train; refine.
Master your time.
* Take inventory. Consider what you are doing with your time. What are you lending your time to?
* The simple act of scrolling keeps you in the mindset of seeking. What are you looking for?
Pray for and practice discernment
* Don’t just be aware, be responsible and make informed decisions.
* Be radical in what you watch, listen to, read etc. because faith comes by hearing (Romans 10:17).
* Beware of celebrity culture. Focus on the heroes of faith. Our Patriarchs and Matriarchs of scripture.
Practice Gratitude
* Gratitude should be practiced in order to make it a habit.
* Of the 10 lepers ONLY 1 came back to say thank you.
Trust the stillness - Don’t be driven by your ambition or suspicion
* It’s when we are still, trusting and relying on Yah that we hear and see His power manifest.
* Psalms 46:10 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.
* 2 Chronicles 20:17 Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the LORD with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; to morrow go out against them: for the LORD will be with you.
* Job 37:14 Hearken unto this, O Job: stand still, and consider the wondrous works of God.
* 1 Samuel 12:7 Now therefore stand still, that I may reason with you before the LORD of all the righteous acts of the LORD, which he did to you and to your fathers.
* Stillness brings reflection and remembrance. Allow your mind to be reminded of the works of Yah. He will fight for you when you are still. Exodus 14:14
