disappointing

I love Mary Jane Staples so I was prepared to fall in love with her characters. She's still a good writer, and I liked the secondary couple who are after our so-called hero and heroine. The hero is all right but doesn't have the usual droll sense of humor that her male protagonists generally have. The heroine struck me as completely irritating. I get the feeling she's a it's my way or the highway, near narcissist. And the pursuit seemed endless, circular, and boring. On the plus side the German major and his sidekick were completely charming.
