When was your last mental health check? In this episode we have the pleasure of speaking a mental health expert, Lauren Jones. Lauren is a licensed clinical social worker and Director of a non-profit, Propel Productions Center. Propel Productions Center specializes in Art-Based Mental Health Programs. They promote social, emotional, and behavioral wellness and connection.

This episode is the definition of resilience. Hear how our special guest, Martina Gaines, was able to go from grief to grace after her breast cancer diagnosis.

African American women under age 35 have rates of breast cancer two times higher than Caucasian women under age 35. Diagnosing breast cancer in younger women, under 40 years old, is more difficult because routine screening is not recommended. So, it is important for young women, more so African American young women, to do self-examinations. This episode we will talk to a young woman of color who discovered her breast cancer while doing a self-examination.

This episode, I speak on when I was diagnosed at 24 and then a second time at age 32.  I was full of emotions but was still able to connect to my willpower.
