Once or Maybe Twice in a Lifetime....

This story had a great beginning with the lead characters being instantly attracted to each other at first sight... like love at first sight... they had never spoken to each other and didn't know each other's name but they felt that over-whelming mutual attraction that you might get a chance to experience once or twice in a lifetime. Great start, good build of suspense and drama throughout with interesting characters and storylines. The novel held my attention.

What I didn't like about the story took place over the last few chapters. The novel had minor twists and turns sprinkled throughout but needed to have a "serious" twist to add to the drama. I didn't like the "serious" twist because it didn't make sense to me. She took a perfectly strong man, physically fit and seemingly mentally fit, with good character and strong morals during the majority of the novel, but then she weakens him in the final chapters for reasons that required me to suspend my disbelief way, way too much!.

"Break ups" and "make ups" are the meat and potatoes of most romance novels, but the premise of what this breakup/makeup was based on was too weak in my opinion. A happy ending and would recommend nevertheless!

Fulfilling Read...

Narrarator was great. Peele has improved greatly over the years. Zuri makes you a part of each detail. During games I felt like I was on the football field. During Intimacy I felt like I was there too. :)

Zuri Day is quickly becoming one of my new favorites. I've even gone back to paperbacks for her.

Would you listen to Love in Play again? Why?

Yes, this is one of the Audiobooks that I would listen to again. I'm actually thinking about getting this one in print. Ms. Day did a wonderful job with the imagery and story line.

What did you like best about this story?

I'm a sucker for a good romance. This one was believable. Not only did Day speak on the heart but she also touched on emotional issue of past childhood experiences.

Have you listened to any of Shari Peeles other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes. She did a wonderful job with the narration of this selection.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

There were times in the book when I wanted to cry. However, I definitely laughed out loud on a few occasions.

Any additional comments?

There were so many likable characters in this book. I thought Reggie was too funny, and Jake was just what the doctor ordered for Dominique.

yes, it was a great read a good man, a single mom trying to raise a young boy.
