Love Is _____

We're breaking this chapter down into three sections. First flirting; which seems to be a requirement to get to the second stage; asking someone out. We also try to figure out what my ideal first date would look like.

Love is Blank is back for a second season and this time we're doing things a little different.

Love is Blank is back for another season and this time I'm making up my very own love story. Using the same model of tv and movie clips, each episode of the season covers a new part of a made up narrative.

For the first part, I'm covering the start of every relationship - Meet Cutes. From ideal locations to the real life experience, why are meet cutes so important in relationships?

For the final chapter of the season, it’s a reality check for the writer. Outside of the bubble of fictional media it’s another reflective episode to close out the last few chapters shared. Yet another self-discovery episode, it’s time to describe the feelings on love and relationships without the thick lens of fictional media set over it.

For the fifth chapter, the writer aims to fully understand what the media portrays as the single character.

This is achieved by questioning who is the single character and what are their typical traits and actions when presented with a lack of a romantic partner?

For this chapter, the writer attempts and fails to articulate their expectations on what they would like should they get in a relationship. The final result is a montage of moments shared by characters of popular fictional media.

In the third chapter, the writer analyses the typical experience of love as portrayed in popular media. From selfless acts, to brave decisions love seems to have the same overall effect on every individual.

For this chapter, the writer takes a reflective look to try and figure out who they really are by using references and quotes taken from tv shows and movies. This is attempted by trying to picture themselves as the main character in an overall uncertain plot.

In the first chapter, the writer analyses the typical progression of love stories in popular media. From meet cutes to tragedies, every story seems to have the same trajectory.

As someone who spends the majority of their time-consuming fictional stories in the form of TV shows, movies, books and music, I tend to get a lot of my life references from them. As a result, I have come to develop a certain idea of what love might be like using these assumptions as my guide. 

Without real-life experience of love, it’s safe to say that most of my conclusions do rely heavily on what can be said to be unrealistic expectations. 

This podcast seeks to provide a new perspective on love from someone who has not experienced it personally, but does encounter what it looks like and feels like in every form of fictional media out there.
