One of my sisters in Christ just accepted a new job, it's a well-deserved promotion that will allow her to expand her impact as an educator. Like with any new opportunity, this one also means she will leave her current position, her work family, her friends.

Many people make transitions like this every day, often without a second thought. So why is this one staying with me? Maybe it’s because I’m thinking of what her friends will feel in her absence.

My friend will embrace this new endeavor with the excitement that comes with fresh beginnings, but those she leaves behind will be left with an empty chair, a quieter office, an absence, at least for a while.

That may not always be the case when people move on, but when someone has left a personal imprint, their change leaves a mark on others too.

That only happens when love has been given freely, and abundantly, and love never fails to take root and grow.
