On April 15, 1947, baseball great Jackie Robinson broke the color line when he took the field for the Brooklyn Dodgers. As momentous an achievement as this was, it opened the door to truly despicable abuse from opposing teams and spectators that Robinson had to endure. It was on the Dodgers' first road trip with Robinson that today's Dynamic Duo emerged. In Cincinnati, as Robinson was heckled by the crowd, shortstop Pee Wee Reese, the Dodgers' captain, walked out to Robinson and put his arm around his shoulder, silencing the crowd. The men would remain friends for the rest of their lives.
