We compared the last days with the days of Noah (Mat. 24:36-38). Many similarities were highlighted, including widespread corruption, violence, sensuality, sexual immorality, an uptick in demonic activity, mocking God, disregarding His warnings, false flags of victory and peace, spiritual blindness, AND A RIGHTEOUS FEW—A REMNANT.
In Parts 1 and 2, we talked about the conditions in which God’s remnant emerges and what unites them—the truths they hold in common and the behavior they display. The conditions and behavior constitute the same enduring pattern observed in every generation and remnant God preserves for Himself, from the Old Testament to the New.
Part 1 - God’s Remnant Heeds the Warnings We learned that God always warns His people of impending danger and judgment. Warnings come in many forms but reflect a growing rebellion against God. Amid these warnings, there is the emergence of a righteous remnant who hears, receives, and heeds the warnings. (Heb. 11:7)
Part 2 - God’s Remnant Lives By Enduring FaithIn Hebrews 11, some displayed overcoming, victorious faith, while others had enduring faith without having received the promise. Verses 1-2 and 39 say they were all approved by God. While the remnant hopes and overcomes in some areas, they also understand the necessity of enduring the contradiction between what is promised and its fulfillment. They are willing to suffer hardship when necessary.
Part 3 - God’s Remnant Loves Not the World
We explored 3 ways in which the word “world” is used in the Bible, with scriptural references.
* The God created world - The world God made, and it is good.
* 2. The world, when referring to humanity in general - The people God loves and came to redeem.
* 3. Satan’s world—made up of systems and fallen humanity - The world God judged and condemned as irredeemable.
We concluded by asking one big question, the answer to which is unsettling because it changes everything, and by listing 5 reasons most don’t like to consider it.
