2021 was a year full of learning and growing for our digital content team here at North Valley Community Foundation. We came so far in one short year, despite being in the throws of a global pandemic. Hang out with us while we recap all our favorite accomplishments from the last year as digital content creators and all that we took away from it.
In this episode we are excited to discuss our up and coming annual event, the North Valley Week of Giving. If you are interested in learning more please check out our website at www.nvcf.org/nvweekofgiving.
One of the many tools nonprofits can leverage in their work is storytelling. Stories help the community connect to your work as a nonprofit in meaningful ways. In this episode, “Visual Storytelling and the Power of Empathy,” we are excited to discuss the Love Warriors' personal favorite type of storytelling, visual storytelling. In a twist of events, in this episode, our hosts Megan Smith and Patrice Berry will be the interviewees with our first ever guest host, Monica Wigman. Megan and Patrice talk about their work as visual storytellers, creating content for NFL three-time MVP Aaron Rodgers and the power empathy holds in visual storytelling.

One of the biggest challenges nonprofit employees face is the dreaded “burnout.” In this field it is easy to get caught in a cycle in which our desire to help outweighs our need to take care of ourselves. This is where burnout tends to creep in. In our newest podcast episode we sit down with health coach Katie Hubbard to discuss the ways in which we can use healthy boundaries, mindful practices and getting to know ourselves to combat the fearful burnout.

We are excited to introduce a new segment to our podcast, titled "Tech Time," where we sit down with our vice president of operations and staff tech guru, Chris Hayashida-Knight, to discuss the basics of technology and systems when working in the nonprofit world. This will be a recurring segment in which we share with our listeners our experience with the tech resources we have found. You might be surprised what is available out there for free! In today's episode, "Tech Time: Where to Begin," we discuss the basics like where to start if you're a small nonprofit with little to no budget and the things that have helped us here at North Valley Community Foundation along our journey. We also break down the eternal debate of Google vs. Office365 (spoiler: they're both equally great). Today's episode of "Love Warriors: Working to Build a Better World" is a bit unconventional. A few of our staff members here at the North Valley Community Foundation decided to surprise our staff with our very own Christmas album and we wanted to share that with all of you. Our very own digital content creator and cohost Patrice Berry delights us with her amazing vocals while being accompanied by our vice president of operations Christ Hayashida-Knight on the piano. We hope this episode of holiday classics fills your heart and your home with holiday cheer. So please, grab a cup of hot coco, sit back and enjoy. From our staff here at NVCF, we hope you have a very merry Christmas and happy holidays.
In today's episode of "Love Warriors: Working to Build a Better World", we break down our recent online community fundraising event, North Valley Week of Giving. In this episode, we invite our director of development, Carly Gordon back to the show to join us in an open round table discussion. We will discuss the behind the scenes work that went into creating an online fundraising event for 79 nonprofits in our community, while also reflecting on the work that was done. We will talk about the things we think we got right and the things that can be improved upon for next year. This episode is a reflection of personal thoughts and opinions.
In today's episode we are so excited to discuss a major topic of interest right now, philanthropy and social media. As COVID-19 has reshaped so much of our daily lives we wanted to shed some light on the potential that social media holds as a bridge between philanthropy and donors. We are fortunate enough to get to sit down with the philanthropic organization One in An Army and talk about how they leverage social media and how a simple hashtag helped them raise $1.4 million in 24 hours.
