Why does Theo Von hit differently?

In this episode, I try to figure out what it is about Theo’s particular combination of humor, vulnerability, contradiction, Southern weirdness, loneliness, curiosity, and emotional intelligence that makes people feel like they know him — and why I, apparently, have a lot of thoughts about it.

This isn't an interview with Theo, obviously. It's more of a personal analysis of what I hear underneath the stories, the jokes, the strange turns in conversation, and the things he chooses to reveal.

Maybe it's about Theo. Maybe it's about the people who recognize something of themselves in him.

Either way, this is my attempt to make sense of the Theo Von thing.

edit: y'all ever just have a friend, fail to recognize the great heart work you are doing (really just tryna keep the kid alive) and get drunk and call your big brother? Alex has had a crush on my big brother since we were children.... thats true of basically anybody who ever (at that age) acted like a friend to me, but it rips harder when you're 32, hoping to reconnect.

I should make the episode art the exact text Lincoln told me, where he says "whatever you said to Alex, i was GONNA pay your rent, but ya, now im not"
