We briefly leap ahead in time from moving to California with baby Amy to the present, when Amy needed an emergency C-section to deliver their ninth baby, Damian Augustine. The first poem is also current, but our love letters are from our time in Northern California, and the second poem is also from my adjustment to the very different geography in California. Enjoy the time travel!

Our life was chaotic when we moved from New Jersey to Northern California with two little girls and a new baby, selling our house on the East Coast and buying a new one in California, and Wes taking the California Bar Exam. We plunged into writing talks and giving Marriage Encounter Weekends, and I only had time for scraps of poetry during the two years we lived there.
