DIG IN QUESTIONS

In light of this week's message, we encourage you to consider these questions and dig in a little deeper with your personal study, with your family, or with your small group.

Read Matthew 5:41-47

1) Do you have enemies? Be honest with yourself and others - for we cannot love our enemies as Christ has asked us if we cannot admit that we have enemies in the first place. Another way to ask this: If YOU were the man beaten and left for dead in the story of the Good Samaritan, who would the Samaritan be?

2) IF you pray for your enemies, what kinds of things do you pray for? Are you pleased with how you pray for your enemies or is that an area that you feel you could grow in?

3) In order to love our enemies our hearts must forgive. Do you think it’s possible for us as people to truly forgive our enemies?

4) As you read and see the “perfect example of Jesus” loving his enemies throughout scripture, are you encouraged by His actions or discouraged by your humanity?

5) Jesus says “love your enemy”, not “like your enemy”...How do you explain the difference and what are some of the ways you could “love” your enemy today?

6) Imagine with me for a moment that every follower of Jesus in Maryland loved their enemies “As children of their Father in Heaven” for the entirety of 2022... What differences do you imagine would exist in your state by the start 2023?
