Psychiatrist and psychotherapist, Dr. Sarah Fajenbaum-Teslja, and relationship counselor Terri DiMatteo, LPC, shed light on misunderstood aspects of infidelity. Together, they provide a novel framework for understanding the cause of infidelity and explore the emotional pain and challenges of each person in the triad.
An affair triad involves the three people impacted by the affair:
One who is in a committed relationship or marriage and engages in secret intimacy outside of the relationship.
The partner or spouse in a committed relationship or marriage whose partner or spouse interacts with someone outside the marriage or relationship intimately and in secret.
The person outside a committed relationship or marriage who is intimately and secretly involved with someone in a committed relationship or marriage.
Though each person within the triad experiences emotional pain the experience is different depending upon the person's position within the triad.
In this first episode of this three-part series, Dr. Sarah Fajgenbaurm-Teslja and Terri DiMatteo, LPC discuss trauma and treatment for individuals in committed relationships or marriages whose spouse or partner intimately engages with another outside their relationship or marriage.
