What if the life you’re living today is not a life you’re consciously choosing anymore, but simply the life you kept living? In this episode, I’m exploring what happens when capable, successful women become so good at managing their lives that decisions gradually turn into routines, routines into assumptions, and assumptions into “this is just how things are.”
I talk about why autopilot does not always look like disengagement. It can look highly competent. You can run a business, raise a family, maintain a relationship, fulfil every responsibility, and still stop asking whether the life you’re maintaining is the one you would choose today. I also revisit the idea of the Adapted Self from Claws Out: the version of us shaped by roles, expectations, and what we learned we needed to become to function and belong.
You’ll also hear why continuing is not always the same as choosing, how familiarity can quietly replace curiosity in our relationships, and why “this is just how it is” deserves closer examination. I explore what it means to consciously participate in your life again by interrupting one automatic pattern long enough to ask whether it still belongs.
If this episode makes you realise that you haven’t properly looked at your own life for a long time, start with Claws Out. The book takes you through the ROAR framework: Recognize, Own, Act, and Redefine, starting with the awareness needed to see the patterns and assumptions shaping your choices.
And if this question uncovers something bigger that you already know you need help untangling, you can also book a Reset Session with me. We’ll look at what is actually true now, what still belongs, what you may have outgrown, and what your next honest decision could be.

What if the life you worked so hard to make secure has also become a little too predictable? In this episode, I’m exploring what happens when capable, successful women become so good at being responsible, organised and sensible that they slowly remove some of the very things that make life feel alive.
I talk about the difference between having a life that works and actually feeling excited to be living it. We look at how easily we can start filtering everything through practicality whether something makes sense, fits the schedule, is worth the effort, or has a predictable outcome- and how that can gradually reduce novelty, spontaneity, anticipation, and play.
You’ll also hear why I don’t think the answer is to blow up the life you’ve built or suddenly become reckless. This is about becoming slightly less predictable to yourself. Trying something before you know whether you’ll be good at it. Saying yes before your sensible brain has produced twelve reasons not to. And asking whether the security you’ve created supports your life or quietly shrinks it.
If your life works on paper but you no longer feel particularly alive inside it, a Reset Session gives us 70 minutes to look at what has gone quiet, what you actually want now, and what may need to change. You’ll find the booking details in the show notes.

When was the last time you did something that had absolutely no useful outcome?
Not because it made you healthier.
Not because it helped your business.
Not because your family needed you.
Not because it made you smarter, calmer, or more productive.
Simply because you wanted to.
In this episode of Loved Without Losing Yourself, I explore what I’m calling the utility test: the habit of asking whether something is worth the time, money, or attention before allowing ourselves to want it.
For high-achieving women, this can show up everywhere.
And eventually, life can become full of useful things... and surprisingly short on things that simply make us feel alive.
We’ll talk about why usefulness can become such a comfortable measure of value, what happens when every interest gets recruited into self-improvement, and whether we still know how to enjoy something without needing to become good at it.
This week, try one small experiment:
Find something that fails the utility test, and do it anyway.
If you’re realising that you know what you need to do, what you should do and what everyone expects from you, but you’re no longer sure what you actually enjoy, that’s something we can explore in a Reset Session.

Yesterday was my birthday, and it made me think about something I don’t want to ignore anymore:
How much of our lives do we keep putting into “later”?
Later when work is quieter.
Later when the children are older.
Later when there’s more money.
Later when we feel more confident.
Later when someone can come with us.
In this episode of Loved Without Losing Yourself, I explore what I’m calling deferred living: the habit of postponing the things that make us feel most alive while being very good at handling everything that needs to be done now.
We talk about why this happens, what “later” may actually be protecting us from, and why a woman can have a full, successful life and still keep pushing parts of herself further into the future.
This week’s Return Practice is:
Bring One Thing Forward.
Choose one thing you keep saying you’ll do later and ask:
How can I have a small piece of this now?
And sit with this question:
What have I been putting into “later” that matters enough to bring a little closer now?

Some of the biggest decisions of our lives get made once, and then we just keep living them. The job. The role in the family. The way the business runs. The responsibilities that somehow became ours.
In this episode, we look at what happens when a choice quietly becomes a default, and why capable, high-achieving women are especially prone to missing the moment it happens. Because if you can handle something, you may never be forced to ask whether you still want to.
You'll hear a story about a woman who built a business she loved, then spent years running it without ever re-opening the decision, and a simple practice, Re-Decide One Thing, to help you tell the difference between a life you're maintaining and one you're actually choosing.
This isn't about blowing anything up. It's about getting honest enough to know what's still yours.
Next step: If this opens something bigger for you, a Reset Session is where we slow down and find out what's actually yours now. Click this link to learn more

You made a decision, and you felt clear about it.
Then someone you love reacted, and suddenly you were no longer only thinking about the decision. You were thinking about what their reaction meant about you.
In this new episode of Loved Without Losing Yourself, we look at a very specific moment:
I knew what I wanted → someone I cared about disagreed → I started negotiating against myself.
This is not about being weak or indecisive. It comes down to what can happen when a capable woman values connection so deeply that another person’s disappointment starts carrying more authority than her own judgment.
In this episode, we explore:
This week’s Return Practice is simple:
Before you respond to someone else’s reaction, ask:
What did I think about this before I knew what they thought?
If you’re listening to this thinking, “I genuinely don’t know anymore what I want and what I’ve negotiated away,” that’s exactly the kind of thing we can work through in a Reset Session. Click here to learn more.

What happens when the people around you stop needing you quite so much?
For many women, being useful, capable, and reliable becomes more than something they do. Somewhere along the way, it can become part of how they know they matter.
In this episode of Loved Without Losing Yourself, I explore the difference between being needed and being wanted, and return to one of the ideas at the heart of my work: The Useful Woman Contract.
We look at why being needed can feel reassuring, why it can be surprisingly uncomfortable when others become more independent, and the loneliness that can come from being relied upon by everyone while still longing to feel seen, chosen, and wanted for who you are, not simply for what you do.
This week’s Return Practice asks you to notice the moments when you automatically step in, help, fix, or make yourself useful, and to become curious about what happens inside you when you don’t.
And I’ll leave you with this question:
Do I know what it feels like to be wanted, not just needed?
If this conversation feels familiar, you’ll also recognise many of these roles and unspoken contracts in my book Claws Out. You’ll find the link in the show notes.

How often do you say “I don’t mind” when actually… you do?
Sometimes it really doesn’t matter. But sometimes “I don’t mind” becomes automatic. We consider what everyone else wants, what will keep things easy, what will avoid disappointment, and forget to ask ourselves one simple question:
What do I want?
In this episode of Loved Without Losing Yourself, I introduce The Return Project: an exploration of the small behaviours that can quietly take us away from ourselves, and the behaviours that help us find our way back.
We look at:

What if the independence you've worked so hard to build isn't only strength?
What if it's also protection?
In this episode, I explore a behaviour I've been noticing in more and more women; the automatic need to say:
"I've got it."
"Don't worry."
"I'll manage."
This isn't a conversation about asking for help.
It's a conversation about understanding the behavior beneath our independence and questioning whether the very thing that once protected us might now be keeping us from receiving the love, care, and support we long for.
This episode also marks the beginning of a new direction for Loved Without Losing Yourself.
Together, we're starting to explore The Return Project, a living study of the behaviours that quietly lead women away from themselves, and the practices that help them find their way back.
In this episode, we explore:
If this episode gave language to something you've felt but never quite been able to explain, share it with one woman you love. She may need to hear that she's not the only one carrying it.

Many high-achieving women believe they're waiting.
Waiting for the right time.
Waiting until life becomes less demanding.
Waiting until everyone else needs them a little less.
But what if you're not waiting at all?
What if you've quietly built a life around never needing anything from anyone?
In this episode of Loved Without Losing Yourself, we explore a behavioural pattern that often hides behind competence, responsibility, and independence. It's not about weakness, and it's not simply people-pleasing. It's the habit of arranging instead of asking, carrying instead of receiving, and convincing yourself that needing nothing is the safest way to live.
In this episode, you'll discover:
If you've become the woman everyone depends on, but you've forgotten what it feels like to ask for what you want, this conversation is for you.
