Prophecy prepares us for the future. Through prophecy, we can see what God is going to do, and not just know what he will do, but also how he wants us to respond. If you are a believer, you will want to be pleasing to God. And you please God through obedience, I say all the time. One is not saved by obedience, but have you been saved by that free gift through the grace of God through faith, you are called as a new creation to obey God.

Today in this study, we're going to focus in on Luke's genealogy for Messiah. Now we know something. We know that a genealogy is related to a birth. And we've spent several weeks talking about the birth of Messiah. Who is this your show? But now there's going to be a change in Luke's gospel, instead of speaking about who he is the very Son of God, the divine Son of God, he is going to begin to focus upon why he was sent into this world.

Wouldn't it had been wonderful to live 2000 years ago, and witness the events surrounding the person and the work of Messiah, you're sure all those miracles, hearing those teachings and seeing how the people responded to John, the Baptists, we read in the scripture that all of Jerusalem, Judea, the area around the Jordan, all of these individuals came out to John's baptism. What an excitement.

We all know the verse of scripture that says, Vengeance is Mine says the Lord. And that word vengeance is the type of retribution. We can think of it in some cases as revenge. And God is telling us that we are not people to execute revenge, God and only God is the one who is capable to do this at the proper time and in the proper way, and for the proper purpose. But be assured there is a day coming when God is going to give his people vindication.

John, the Baptists called people to repentance. And that message of repentance is still just as valid today, nearly 2000 years later. So the question that you and I should ask ourselves is this have we truly repented? Now God knows all things. He knows whether you had been sincere or not. But the sad fact of the matter is this today, because Bible teaching has become watered down. It has been greatly influenced by the world rather than the authority of Scripture.

The Bible makes it very clear that sin cannot be ignored, but sin must be dealt with. Take out your Bibles and look with me to sefer Vayikra. That is the Book of Leviticus and chapter four, we're going to begin God willing this chapter now.

When you hear the word worship, what comes into your mind, if you're like most people, you think about corporate worship, going to a specific location on a specific day of the week, at a certain time, gathering together, as it said in the book of Hebrews, do not forsake the assembling of ourselves together. And people assembled together in order to praise God, to give Him thanks, to pray together, to confess sin, to hear words of assurance, also to study his word, and to fellowship and encourage one another.

The will of God should be your utmost desire, you should be an individual, that when you pray, one of the primary things that you're praying for is the revelation of God's will, that you might know it, that you might carry it out that he might be one who provides all that you need, in order to do what He has called and set before you to do. Now we are studying in the Book of Leviticus sefer Vayikra

Scripture is the word of God. It is God's communication to humanity. And when you understand Scripture properly, it can say so much more to the reader. Well, to get your Bible and look with me to the book of Luke, and chapter three, Luke's gospel and chapter three. Now I mentioned how wonderful the Bible is. The Bible is literature.

The Bible is very clear that you're sure I'm not speaking about Jesus of Nazareth, he is fully God, the eternal Son of God, there was never a time he did not exist. But in our study of Luke chapter two, we've been focusing in on the Incarnation, that is God taking upon himself human flesh.
