Boaz is generously committed in his love for Ruth. Though the widow’s nearest of kin lives in anonymity, Boaz is remembered well in the pages of Hebrew history. Yet Boaz’s redeeming love for Ruth is just a shadow of the greatest love known to humankind. Jesus, our Great Redeemer, made himself a kinsman by willingly leaving the splendor of His glory and becoming flesh. When there was no intercessor to be found who could pay our sin debt, He took upon Himself the whole debt. Becoming a curse for us, He died a sinner’s death and arose in victory releasing us from all death and sin curse. And it was all for love’s sake.
