Our modern context for being a shepherd greatly differes from the Hebrew concept of Shepherding. We have come to believe a great entertainer, speaker or teacher is a pastor. Shepherds are known by how they care for their aheep. They are accessible and present and their sheep can watch their everyday example. Let us divest from the current model, and go back to God's ideal so that we will not be idol shepherds in the work of building and edifying the church.
