Loving the Scriptures

Jesus says that He has overcome the world. So what does that mean for us who believe in Him? We talk about that and more in this episode.

In this episode we talk about how the reality of Jesus' resurrection leads to our joy, specifically as it related to Jesus' own words to His disciples about the sorrow they would have of not seeing Him, and then the joy they would have in seeing Him.

What does it mean for the Holy Spirit to have guided the disciples into all the truth? What would that have meant to them, and how did such guidance manifest itself to them after Jesus left? And how can that boost our confidence when it comes to reading the Word of God today? We explore these things in this episode.

In this episode, we begin to look at John 16, where Jesus encourages His disciples regarding the sending of the Helper, and explaining how such a gift from God will work in convicting the world that persecutes His people. We will learn what He means when He says that the Holy Spirit will convict the world regarding sin, righteousness, and judgment.

Many Christians think that if we walk in love, then we are more likely to escape persecution. But is this really the case? In this episode, we look at what Jesus had to say to His disciples and find out why unbelievers hate and persecute Christians, and why it is important for us to know today.

In this episode, I do something I've never done before by having another voice that delivers the Word of God. I share a sermon on sanctification by Pastor Mark Jones from my church. I thought this message was very, very good and thought I would share it with you, especially in light of what we've been talking about in John 15 about bearing fruit.

Note: In the introduction to this episode, I inaccurately stated that we will start John 16 in the next episode, We actually have one more section of John 15 to cover, so that is what we will explore in the next episode.

In this episode, we continue our discussion of bearing fruit to the glory of God from John 15. This time, we explore how Jesus' emphasis on loving one another reveals how love is central to the fruit that we as Christians bear in front of a watching world.

In this episode, we talk about the final "I Am" statement said by Jesus Christ in the Gospel of John: "I am the true vine." What does it mean for Jesus to be the vine, The Father as the vinedresser, and us as the branches, and what does this illustration say about God's work in us for our sanctification?

In this episode we discuss sanctification, which may be considered a forgotten or neglected aspect of our salvation. We talk about why it's important to have a right understanding of our progressive transformation to the image of Christ, and use this as a preview of some things we will touch on in the next episode when we begin to explore John 15.
