Matthew 5:33-37. Ps Hilary Williams concludes this leg of our Real Deal series by considering Jesus' teaching on loving our enemies. Most see this counter-cultural teaching in terms of how we are to treat others. However, Jesus is not saying we are to put up with abuse, or that we have no right to stand up for ourselves. Ultimately we are to rise above law and culture, seek peace over vengeance, and to let our kindness provoke others to evaluate their own hearts.
