A (relatively) in-depth analysis of the song On Horseback (by Mike Oldfield) in (just over) fifteen minutes. In this episode, I am in discussion with Dr. Andrew Webber.

The song On Horseback is the final and untitled section to 'Ommadawn (Part Two) from Oldfield's third album Ommadawn. The song was released on the flip side of the single 'In Dulci Jubilo' by Virgin Records in November 1975. It features Oldfield on vocals accompanied by a children's chorus, credited as the Penrhos Kids.

This podcast was published on the day of Her Majesty The Queen’s State Funeral. Whilst Her Majesty may not have been an admirer of beer or cheese - horses and in particular, being on horseback was certainly an enduring passion.

A (relatively) in-depth analysis of the musical artist (and Beckenham-born) David Sylvian in (just) under fifteen minutes. In thhis episode I am in discussion with Dr. Andrew Webber.

Following the break-up of his group Japan, Sylvian embarked on a solo career with his debut album Brilliant Trees, released in 1984. His solo work has included collaborations with artists such as Ryuichi Sakamoto, Robert Fripp, Holger Czukay, Jon Hassell, Bill Nelson and Fennesz. Sylvian's recordings of the 1980s and 1990s were a mixture of art rock, pop, jazz fusion, ambient and avant-garde experimentalism. His more recent compositions have drawn increasingly on musical minimalism and free improvisation.
