NoluMuyzik, affectionately known as “uBabesWeHipHop”, a Resident DJ for the Coquette Vinyl
Session’s in Kitchener’s Carvery Bar. Her love for HipHop began in 1999 and was inspired by the
movie “Juice” by Omar Epps and Tupac Shakur. She started collecting music by the likes of Jayzee,
Dilated Peoples, Tribe Called Quest, Bilal, Common and Tumi and the Volume, which was
complemented by her enthusiastic attendance of the “Graveyard HipHop Sessions” in her
hometown Dobsonville as well as “Slaghuis” in Pimville Soweto.
Fast forward to 2013, her passion for music was revoked when she was introduced to the “Thesis
Social Jam Sessions” by her music enthusiast friend Fulufelo Ramadikela, who also exposed her to
other music genres such as Lounge, NuJazz, Trip Hop and Funk.
Beginning of 2018, she started collecting Vinyl Records and started having around places like Vinyl
Lifestyle Rooftop, the 457 Record Bar and the Hotel Rwanda Sunday Cookout that helped shape her
vinyl playing skills.
NoluMyuzik’s Dee-jaying career officially started in April 2018, when she was invited to play at the
Vinyl Lifestyle Birthday Celebration. Nolumyuzik’s selections of Hip Hop, Trip Hop, NuJazz, Funk and
Jazzy Deep House has attracted the interests of a lot of music enthusiasts as well as management of
establishments such as Braamfontein based Kitcheners Carvery bar, Atmosphere Lounge in
Lephalale, Limpopo, House 22 in Pretoria, Face2Face Bar&Grill in the Westrand as well as a number
of Podcasters.
