We all know that the government knows a lot of things. But this song revealed something we found rather disturbing and also strangely exciting. Lyrics aside, it was a breath of fresh air, with Knower grabbing, crushing, and impaling all our expectations of this track. In a good way? Oh yes, very.
In our FINALLL episode of the season, just as Shawn's house arrest is winding down due to boredom, a rather crappy matter has also come to its conclusion. Josh calls him to share about this piece of news that has frankly left a bad taste in the mouth amongst locals. What have they got to say about this one, where a man decided not just to flout lockdown rules, but take a poop in his neighbour's incense burner? Well, as it appears, a load.
Wow, our very first non-Singaporean reactionalysis really came at us hard. Ashnikko is not necessarily the most accessible of artists, both visual, thematically, and musically, but 'STUPID' does reek of adolescent badassery. Somehow reminiscent of Cardi and Nikki, what really stood out to us bass heads was the sonic palette. Overall, unconventional - but would you expect any different of a blue-haired, cosplaying rapper, right?
What's your flavour? Tell me, what's your flavour? Oooh...' sang Craig David. This guy must have heard his words resonate a little too loudly and clearly, turning him into an unlikely taste-tester. Except ice-cream wasn't his fare - 'twas presents from women. Listen as the Luan Luan Lords discuss this multi-personality moneypulation, in which Takashi Miyagawa was arrested for being a serial dater and gave a different birthday to each date in order to get more than one annual gift. Were his dates 'victims' or simply gullible? You tell us.
How is this track similar to a flowering plant in the subfamily Papaveroideae of the family Papaveraceae? They are both beautiful and poppy. Nicely produced, with a strong hook, and a cute cover design. What's gonna be their Luan Luan Lating?
Ok. So there's a bug with a bad reputation that sorta caused the divorce of a married couple, and then there's a French pastry that disguised itself as an arboreal mammal to scare residents in Krakow, Poland. What do these two have in common? Nothing, really. Except that Josh calls Shawn amidst his complicated house arrest to inform him of these tricksy animals. How will they react?

Which Gen Z trend rhymes with 'pick lock'? Yes, today we deep-dive into this endless black hole of scantily-clad amateur teen dancers, pranks (mostly modestly-clad), and displays of superhuman ability (probably... ironclad?). Indeed, today, we tok kok about Tik Tok. BONUS: Shawn attempts to interpret and use Gen Z jargon, often to disastrous effect. // Luan Luan Listen: 'if you'd have me' by whirring.
In this week's Luan Luan Listen, we take a deep dive (or spiral?) into a style we have yet to sample with our pretentious ear drums. Enter Norman, the man behind local prog act Maneloren. There is something special that sets him apart, and it's not just his stunning good looks. Ok it would be easier to say that if we knew what he looked like, but hey, listening to his voice it's pretty clear he looks as good as his ethereal melodies draw you in. What's gonna be his LLL score?
People have tattoos for all sorts of reasons. Most of them are actually decent. We are not sure what to make of this one though. Josh calls Shawn about a man who has the faces of Singapore celebrities tattooed on his limbs - Mark Lee, Henry Thia, Liang Popo, etc. He has now been MARKed permanantLEE with their faces. Join the the Luan Luan Lords as we discuss this man's questionable tattoo decisions. Then again, who are we to judge?
This week, we are proud and excited to reactionalyse a track by one of our own Luan Luan Lai-ers from Causeway Youth, 'Small Talk'. As part of this new format, we take you fellow Luan Luan Listeners on an emotional and cognitive journey with us as we give arbitrary grades (because we like to pretend to be legit music critics) to each aspect of their music: Rhythm & Groove, Melody, Harmony & Chords, Sonic Palette & Mix, and Lyrics.
