A continuing problem here in Hawaii has been the confusion when it comes to PETS in Hawaii…ONE, getting your Pet to Hawaii and TWO, finding a rental that will take your pet in. The way PET QUARANTINE works has changed over the many years. At one time you had to wait like 120 days, but today with enough advanced planning quarantine can be almost avoided entirely from 5 days or even less. This will make relocated your family member that much easier…to look at the new QUARANTINE LAWS and RULES go here: http://hdoa.hawaii.gov/ai/aqs/animal-quarantine-information-page/ The other major issues is finding a RENTAL…there are so mnay reasons why this has become a very touchy subject for Landlords and Renters and we talk about it in this Podcast.
We start the Podcast talking about the NEWS of the day…from Gay Marriage to the new show on the History Channel called AMERICAN JUNGLE which goes deep into the Big Island jungle as Hawaiian Clans fight for their food. As for Gay Marriage it has now become LAW in HAWAII…The state Senate passed a bill to legalizing gay marriage. Gov. Neil Abercrombie, who called lawmakers to a special session for the bill and has vocally supported gay marriage, has signed the measure. It will allow thousands of gay couples living in Hawaii and even more tourists to marry in the state starting Dec. 2. Senators passed the bill 19-4 with two lawmakers excused. More than half the chamber’s lawmakers spoke in support of the bill, with many urging the public to come together to heal divisions within the community. An estimate from a University of Hawaii researcher says the law will boost tourism by $217 million over the next three years, as Hawaii becomes an outlet for couples in other states, bringing ceremonies, receptions and honeymoons to the islands. The study’s author has said Hawaii would benefit from pent-up demand for gay weddings, with couples spending $166 million over those three years on ceremonies and honeymoons. It’s clearly about EQUAL RIGHTS…and…MONEY!
We also go DEEP into the HILO Jungle of the BIG ISLAND as we break down AMERICAN JUNGLE and the creators of the show on the HISTORY CHANNEL well known as RUSTYBOAR. T’Jaye Forsythe of Rustyboar wanted to showcase a Hawaii that’s past the beaches and waterfalls of Hawaii.Forsythe, a Big Island hunter, has been filming hunts here since 2009, posting the videos first on YouTube, then on a website he created to showcase hunting, rustyboar.com. Most of the hunters TJ knows here are in the woods and on the mountain looking to stock their freezers. A big jaw or other trophy that comes from the hunt is a bonus, but not the driving factor for hunters here, TJ says. People here “eat life to sustain life,” he added. A Waiakea Uka resident, Forsythe, 39, grew up in Laie, Oahu, and moved to the Big Island in 1989. He wanted to feature the variety of hunting opportunities here to highlight the diversity of the island and its hunting landscapes. In West Hawaii, the crew and hunters tracked mouflon sheep and pigs in South Kona. They also filmed in Milolii, South Point, Hamakua and Volcano. It’s about sustaining the old traditional ways of Hawaiian Hunting. So check out Rustyboar and History Channel’s AMERICAN JUNGLE and support the LOCAL BIG ISLAND CLANS.
