Think about cities around the world.  Somebody’s making decisions [決定] about lots of important stuff, like: which roads to fix, where to plant new trees, and what color to paint the fire hydrants [消防栓]. But these are small decisions compared to what we are about to discuss.  And that’s the very important decision about choosing a crosswalk signal
Not all cities love their crosswalk signals, but some do.  We don’t know just how much we’ve grown to like something until it is taken away. That’s what happen in 1990 when the two Germanys reunified [統一].  Very few things from the East were embraced [接受] by the West, but one thing survived, with great popularity, East Germany’s little traffic man.  Glowing [發光] red and green, the well-dressed traffic man wears shoes and a hat. He’s still at street corners helping Germans cross safely.

  • The Golden Rule /

There are many, many religions [宗教] and each is different [相異] but, also the same. It sounds impossible [不可能] for them all to have something in common [共通點], but they do have something in common — and it’s called the Golden Rule [黃金法則].

The Golden Rule is part of many of the world’s religions. But, it’s not only religious. The Golden Rule is also part of many cultures [文明] all over the world. It must be a truly wonderful rule because it is, really popular.

The Golden Rule is really simple. It’s almost as simple as some other world famous rules, like “brushing your teeth after eating” and “washing your hands after using the toilet.” Are you ready — here’s the Golden Rule:

Treat others the same way you want them to treat you.

  • Don’t Use These Bad Passwords /
“123456” finally got some time in the spotlight as the world’s worst password, begin in the shadow of “password.” Yeah, that’s right, some people use the word “password” as their password. From 2011 to 2019, the security company Splashdata compiled [編譯] a list of the passwords that are most often guessed by hackers [駭客]. In 2011 and 2012, the most often hacked password was the word “password.” But that changed in 2013, when “123456” became the king of worst passwords.
Twenty-thirteen wasn’t just a bad year for “password.” Also in 2013, Adobe had a major [重大的] security breach [安全漏洞] and 48 million user passwords were stolen. The size [長短] of the breach had a significant [顯著的] affect on Splashdata’s results. That’s why “photoshop” and “adobe123” suddenly appeared on Splashdata’s 2013 list.  Fans of “password” needn’t worry. It’s a classic [經典的], for sure, and it’s not going anywhere. But why am I complaining about people using “password” as their password? Because it’s a weak password [弱強度的密碼] and weak passwords are susceptible [容易受到… That’s when hackers try to break into accounts [帳戶] simply by guessing passwords. When account owners [帳戶所有者] use easy-to-guess passwords, like “password,” the hacker’s job is quite easy.
