36 As He rode along, the people spread their cloaks on the road. 37 And as He approached the descent from the Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of disciples began to praise God joyfully in a loud voice for all the miracles they had seen:
38 “Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord!”
“Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!”
39 But some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Him, “Teacher, rebuke Your disciples!”
40 “I tell you,” He answered, “if they remain silent, the very stones will cry out.”

Upon reading this passage it gives me a sense of great encouragement. In the second half of verse 37 it says, “the whole multitude of disciples began to praise God joyfully in a loud voice for all the miracles they had seen.” How amazing this would have been to have seen and heard in person! I can’t remember the last time a group of people walked down the street singing praise to God out loud, can you?
In a society where many people think Christianity is weak or passive, this passage reminds me that it’s the complete opposite. We must stand firm in our faith and not be silenced! If we feel like singing praise to God in the street, let’s do it! What’s the worst that could happen? We have so much reason to be joyful.
Let us pray that God will help us to be courageous to praise him and to be continually thankful for what Jesus has done for us.
