"And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified." Luke 2:8-9, NIV
Does the idea of standing in front of a holy and righteous God scare you? If not, it probably should. Every time in the Bible that individuals get close to God, they get scared.
When in the presence of a pure and holy God, the shepherds were painfully aware of their own sin. They were probably expecting judgement and even punishment of some kind.
But the angel told them not to be afraid. They were given good news that was going to bring great joy for all people. God was making peace with them through the birth of Jesus.
We would like to personally invite you to our Christmas Eve Services at CrossWalk Church. We will continue "Investigating Jesus - A Walkthrough The Gospel of Luke" and we'll listen to the Christmas account as only Luke can tell it.
In our message we will not only investigate the facts about the birth of Jesus as they happened, but we will also look at the peace God offers to the shepherds and each of us as well.
Experience how a baby born in a manger over 2,000 years ago still brings peace to you, today.
The sermon entitled “The Birth of Jesus" was done by Senior Pastor Dan Solofra at CrossWalk Church, in part of the “Investigating Jesus: A Walkthrough the Gospel of Luke (Part 1)" message series.
CrossWalk Church - Christmas Eve Sunday Worship:
Laveen Campus: Cesar Chavez High School - 2pm/4pm
