We complain. We shackle ourselves to our previous pain and drag its weight through the present. When we’re not ruminating on the past, we’re trying to live in the future. We stress and worry and fear realities that may never come to pass. We convince ourselves things will be better on some other day, at some other time, but it’s all a mirage.

The past is gone, and the future is fiction. Bringing either into the present only kills the here and now..."
