Luke 9:1-17

Jesus and Uncertainty

We are going to Luke chapter 9 today.

One of the big burdens of this season of quarantine that we’re in is the uncertainty. We don’t know how long this will last, we don’t know what that means for school or for summer camp or work or church. We don’t know what our health will be in the future, we don’t know how our finances will hold up, we don’t know what this will mean for the economy or the world.

We don’t know if there’s a second wave coming, we don’t know if the people who make the models that predict all of this are getting their assumptions right, or if our leaders in government are responding the best way. We just want to know, and we could probably cope better if we just knew for sure. If we just heard that June 1 or September 1 or January 1 was the end of it, then we could prepare, and plan, and know what to expect.
