Jesus is God’s literal word, He is how God speaks to His people.

Jesus is the creator of all things. God made the cosmos and everything in them through and for His Son.

Jesus is the expression of the True God's character. He shows us love, truth, justice, wrath and His authority through the person of Christ.

Jesus is God's beloved Son.

I will never see more clearly than when I see Christ. The more clearly I see Christ, the more clearly others will see Him in me.

The final line of the book points towards the theological big idea: God will soon defeat the enemies of His people and establish His rule over His people forever. Jesus began his ministry by announcing that the time was fulfilled and the kingdom of God was at hand. He could claim that because he was the long-promised Davidic king inaugurated that kingdom through his life of perfect obedience, his miraculous ministry, his sacrificial death on the cross for our sins, his resurrection from the dead, and his triumphant ascension to the right hand of the Father. And one day he will return in glory to consummate his kingdom in a new heavens and new earth where we will dwell with him forever.

Jesus, the only perfect and innocent person took the place of the guilty (all of us!) so that we could receive the ultimate blessing of God. We have HOPE because we know that Jesus has entered into our suffering and conquered sin, death, and the grave on our behalf (Isaiah 53).

God created everything so He could be together with us. His temple was His creation, and we were welcome in it! Until Adam’s sin tore everything apart. The only way God’s presence could be with His people was in a Temple, behind a veil, with a most Holy place, in an ark. Jesus said He would destroy the Temple. Jesus, the God-Man WAS the Temple. He was torn so we could be repaired. His Holiness now hides and protects US! We are no the temple of God. Jesus is the foundation of our faith and The Holy Spirit is the power of God that resides in us!

The story of David’s massive fall in 2 Samuel 11 and 12 is a real eye opener. Here’s David, God’s chosen King of Israel, the one that brought the ark into the city and danced with great exuberance before the LORD, now so caught up in his own sin and lies that a child is born as a result of his infidelity and the man whose wife bore the child is murdered by David AND the child dies. Sin is messy. We are shown in this story just how messy. We’re also shown how much pain, suffering and death it brings. And, we see that God won’t allow for it to continue. David is saved because God chose for the child to die instead. We are saved, because God chose His own child to die. Instead.

The key word in the book of Ruth dramatically spotlights Boaz. The Hebrew word ga’al (goel) appears twelve times, and the noun version of it nine times. 24 It is variously translated, but it basically combines two elements: relation and redemption. It refers to a close family member who steps in to defend, protect, and provide for the needy. It’s a word used to describe God’s past action of redeeming Israel out of Egypt, and the later prophets also used it repeatedly to describe a future redemption that God would accomplish.

The Background of Jesus as told in the story of Moses can show us so many ways that God interacts with mankind. Though Moses was vastly limited in his abilities, we can see that God will not allow human inability to limit His ability to do great things. He succeeds when we fail. He redeems the things that seem to go more according to our plan than His. Throughout the life and leadership of Moses we see that God is the one Whose plan will succeed.

Exodus 19 is a crucial chapter of God’s redemptive story of grace toward mankind. In it we see God setting the stage for His commandments to mankind. There’s something very important about Exodus 19 that we can not forget. God makes sure to pre-cursor the commandments with His very heart. You cannot read Exodus 20 without knowing that God did all the work first. His 10 Commandments are a framework for staying in His will, not earning His love. We’ve got to see this principal properly. It’s the gospel.

The Abrahamic Covenant is one of the greatest foreshadowings of the full redemptive work that God had planned “before the foundation of the world” In it we see God take something that was humanly impossible and turn it into something only His great power could accomplish.
