Breaking the boundaries and games that narcissist seem to like to play can be hard, especially when you don't know that their sick games are rigged for you to lose!  Personal boundaries are not a way to become guarded necessarily, but a way to express your individuality and values.  Narcissistic personality and some other cluster B personality types often seem to become threatened by anyone practicing personal boundaries perhaps because it can prevent others from becoming accustomed to narcissistic abuse and accepting it as normal behavior.  Narcissists often use boundaries as a way to guard themselves against having real connections with others.  Narcissists are about the control and not the connection.
