Lucha por tus Derechos Chicago es un programa en español dedicado a explorar los ámbitos laborales a través de testimonios, lideres y personas expertas que proporcionan información, actualizaciones y hechos reales sobre los derecho de los trabajadores y más.

Liderado por cinco centros de trabajadores de Chicago: Unión Latina, Trabajos con Justicia de Chicago, Arise Chicago, Chicago Workers Collaborative y Chicago Community and Worker Rights, con apoyo de las agencias de estándares laborales y la Universidad de Illinois en Chicago.

This edition of Neighborhood Audio Portraits was created through a four-part radio workshop at the Canaryville Branch Library. Young people will explore their neighborhood through interviews, research and local history by capturing the voices and stories that make Canaryville what it is— past, present, and future.

In these hour-long conversations, I speak with moving image artists about their work, their creative process, and the music that has shaped it. Each of these artists asks urgent questions about contemporary political conditions and the role of the moving image. We explore these questions, their journey into film and video and the commitment to making meaningful images.

In the serie finale of “Beauty Under the Knife,” Leslie peels the mask on Grafted (2024), a blush-pink body-horror set in New Zealand, where newcomers often feel stranded on the country’s isolated fringes. Lonely Chinese student Wei turns to risky skin-graft experiments, hoping a new face will help her fit in. But when the borrowed skin turns against her, the story plunges into Kristeva’s abjection — the shock of your own body becoming strange — revealing how cultural isolation can twist the search for belonging into a terrifying loss of self.
