So I finally created a logo animation for Anansi Spaceworks. I guess this makes us official now.

Some of the reflection images are from NASA, others are taken from Anansi Spaceworks projects.

Flame effects are going to be an interesting challenge for Lunatics!. Rocket plumes don't look the same in vacuum since they don't interact with the surrounding air. This is a first attempt to get a somewhat realistic-looking flicker using image loops on surfaces in Blender.

I'll probably try to improve on this, but this is the render I'll be using in our animatic shots.

Turn-around model of Georgiana Lerner from Lunatics!, wearing the custom spacesuit for the "Soyuz-SF" launch in the pilot episode "No Children in Space". Unlike the adults, she is wearing a custom-designed child spacesuit which is a combination IVA/EVA type (this is meant to be an American design, which is why it doesn't look much like the Russian Sokol suits the adults are wearing).

The character model (and turn-around) is by Andrew Pray, based on character model sheets by Daniel Fu, based on art direction by series creators Rosalyn Hunter (Writer) and Terry Hancock (Producer/Director).

[NOTE (2022): This character model was later replaced by a new model created originally by Bela Szabo and further modified by Keneisha Perry, which adheres more closely to the design modelsheets created by Daniel Fu. However, the spacesuit model by Andrew Pray was kept].

Our Kickstarter to support the production of the pilot episode for our animated science fiction series Lunatics! is now live!

The pilot episode will be titled "No Children in Space" and follows the youngest colonist on her journey to the Moon to join the colony.

So we did it the hard and slow way after that. Possibly that was a blessing. I don't know what it would've looked like had we done it that way. Probably pretty different.

"Sarah Allison" is the colony's resident geologist, and already one of the most experienced Lunar EVA specialists in the field due to her previous research assignments.

From our first pre-production Kickstarter in late 2011. Concept art for lunar geologist Sarah Allison, the resident scientist and EVA expert. She joins the colony at the end of what was originally episode 3, but with the breakup of the pilot is now episode 5.

Distemper is a Moscow "Ska Punk" band that released this track as part of their album "Think Who Is Your Friend" under the Free Art License, which was awkward, because at the time the FAL was not legally compatible with the CC By-SA license, despite having essentially the same meaning. So I actually contacted the band to get permission to relicense to CC By-SA for our purposes.

Years later, however, an arrangement was worked out to make the FAL and CC By-SA licenses compatible. This applies for CC By-SA 4.0, which we've now switched to, so theoretically, we're safe to incorporate music under FAL directly, now. Still, it was nice to have the band's blessing.

Ironic, because this is one of the tracks that kept getting dinged by the copyright filter bots on YouTube, apparently because of the label the band used to release their album.
