Let's talk about the five action steps to take for a healthier 2023...
It's the end of the year again, and this is the season when people start writing down their new year's resolutions. But we all know for a fact that around 50%-80% of people tend to give up on their goals come March, and we don't want that to happen to you this 2023.
Most new year's resolutions fail because of it being too ambitious or unrealistic, and many fail to achieve their goals because they try and do it alone.
That is why in order to make those goals easier to achieve, I came up with action steps that will help you have a more realistic and attainable set of goals for the upcoming year. Tune in and make your 2023 a fruitful year!
In this first two-part episode about planning for the upcoming year, Dr. Berry shares actionable steps in making your goals realistic and achievable. Here, he gives out valuable tips on how to hold yourself accountable for your actions and/or inactions and explains the importance of having a support system in achieving your goals.

Let's talk about lupus...
Lupus is not a frequently occurring disease if we are to compare it with the likes of diabetes and hypertension. But just because it is not as frequent as the others, doesn't mean that we shouldn't take it as something serious. If you are not prepared for its possible effects, it could definitely cause you problems.
Did you know that there are about 1.5 Americans diagnosed with lupus, and there are a total of around 5 million cases worldwide? The concerning thing about it is that 90% of these patients are women, and African-American women are three times more likely to have been diagnosed with this disease than white women.
Fortunately, while the actual causes of lupus are still unknown, there are available medications that help manage its symptoms.
In this episode, Dr. Berry talks all about lupus and discusses what happens to the immune system of those who have it. He also puts emphasis on how it could affect basically all of the internal organs as he reassures that while there is still no answer to what really causes it, there are ways to trace lupus and treatment options to help those who have been diagnosed.
Why you need to check out this episode:
"In the case of lupus, something happens where your own immune system doesn't recognize that the foreign body it's trying to attack is its actual self." – Dr. Berry Pierre
Notable Quotes:
"Lupus is when your immune system says 'Hey, you know what? I don't recognize myself, so I'm going to turn on myself." – Dr. Berry Pierre

Let's talk about diabetes...
There are some diseases that are simply too significant that we dedicate an entire month talking about it; and speaking of which, since it's now November, that means it's time for Diabetes Awareness Month again.
Currently, there are around 37 million Americans diagnosed with diabetes. It is so bad that for every five diabetic people, there is one who is completely unaware that he has it. To make matters worse, there are around 96 million people who are currently in the pre-diabetic stage, ready to join the stats at any given time.
This disease is one of the leading reasons why people have dialysis, why people go blind, and why people need to have parts of their bodies amputated. The numbers have doubled in the last two decades, and even though there are new treatments available, the overall situation still doesn't look good.
So join Dr. Berry as he starts a two-part episode about Diabetes Awareness Month as he educates us on why we should take diabetes seriously – whether we are directly affected or not.
In this episode, Dr. Berry gives us an understanding of what diabetes is and what possibly causes it, what happens to our body when we have it, and what we have to look out for if we suspect that we're diabetic.
Why you need to check out this episode:
"Diabetes is not just a sugar disease. It's a disease that causes all problems galore." – Dr. Berry Pierre
Notable Quotes:
"Lifestyle modifications are significantly important. Whether you are monitoring the types of food you're eating, when you're eating, how you're eating, your physical activity, or more importantly, getting rid of physical inactivity." – Dr. Berry Pierre

In this episode of Real Physician Reacts we will be discussing a very real and scary trend in how the general public deals with death and the issue of desensitization to death as we experience more and more of it up close and personal.
This week we lost another hip hop star Take Off from the Migos tragically and almost immediately we were bombarded with images and even video of his last moments here with us.
Tonight I am going to discuss what that says about the current state of society that we have readily accepted being able to watch someone take their last breath and move on about our day as if nothing has occurred.

Let's talk about preventative medicine...
How important is it for you to be present on your annual visit?
As the saying goes, prevention will always be better than cure, but if we'll keep on disregarding the need to visit our physicians, the time will come when things will get worse, so bad that it might even take our life away from us.
So, if you still want to live a lot longer both in good shape and in good health, sit back and relax as we learn from today's guest. As always, awareness is where it all starts, but awareness is nothing when it's not put into fruitful action.
Dr. Randy Hines II is a board-certified family medicine physician and CEO of Hines Entertainment. Aside from being a physician, he's also an author and a podcaster. He hosts the On Call with Dr. Randy podcast where he discusses topics relating to preventive medicine, health, and wellness.
In this episode, Dr. Randy discusses why preventative medicine is a must, especially in today's time as he and Dr. Berry talk about the tactics for educating people about preventive measures that can help avoid poor health.
Why you need to check out this episode:
"You got to slow down and take care of yourself. Sometimes, people are so busy trying to take care of other people and then they come and see me and it's like 'I got 10 issues that I want to talk about in this 30-minute visit and I haven't seen a doctor in two to three years because I've been so busy taking care of everybody else.' And I also tell them jokingly but also seriously, 'Hey, I'm not Jesus. I can't solve it all in one visit." – Dr. Randy Hines II
Notable Quotes:
"I always kind of try to expose myself to different things, different experiences, because you never know, that one little thing that'll build that bond between you and your patient."– Dr. Randy Hines II
