I spoke to Scott and Kelly about how they started making ice cream at home and how it evolved from Farmers Markets to Ice Cream Truck to now having multiple neighborhood storefronts and many more to come.  We talked about hardworking and listening to your gut and making things happen while scooping ice cream with a smile.

I got to spend my lunch break with Dustin and April Williams, owners of À La Cart Orlando, A social dining experience featuring some of the best street food offerings in Orlando and a bar with 15 taps pouring a rotating lineup of beers, wines, and coffee. A fun space for foodies, beer lovers, and families of all shapes and sizes! A Food Truck Park you don’t want to miss in Orlando.

I spoke to Dustin and April about how they came up with the concept of a Food Truck Park and how they brought it from Oregon to Orlando, FL. We spoke about how they figured out what Food Trucks would be part of the park and the importance of social media. We also spoke about balancing life and business as a married couple. Not to mention doing something you are passionate about. Was a great conversation and I enjoyed having my lunch break with them.

I got to spend my lunch break with Chris Carr, owner of Chris Carr Fine ArtPhotography, fine art photographer in Orlando working on a series called “Puddle Reflections,” capturing reflected images in puddles with an abstract or surreal element.

I spoke to Chris about how he started and what his series Puddle Reflections is about; we discussed traveling weeks on end and what he’s learned from selling at out door venues. We also talked about imitation as the greatest form of flattery and his motto during these past 6 years as a fine art photographer.

I got to spend a quick lunch break asking 4 questions to 3 restaurant/food truck owners - the guys from Team Fat Kid Food Truck in Virginia Beach, Orlando's Sandwich Queen, Pom Moongauklang, owner of Pom Pom's Teahouse & Sandwicheria, and the owner of Pig Floyd's Urban Barbakoa, Thomas Ward in the Orlando Mills 50 District. 

I asked them about what makes a great sandwich, their sandwich tip, as well as, what are some of the hardest difficult struggles of running a restaurant that people may not be aware of?  I also asked about menu items that failed and what they did.   It was a fun episode getting some great insight from various restaurant types.

I got to spend my lunch break with Nicole Goodman, owner of Klondike Electric Bikes and Klondike Gift Supply in Skagway, Alaska.  I had the chance to speak with Nicole how she went from owning a Breakfast Food Truck in Orlando to moving to Skagway, Alaska and opening an electric bike rental shop right before the pandemic and how she and her husband pivoted and opened Klondike Gift Supply, as well as, Northwind Social Media, to help the Alaskan community around her, since 1.2 million tourists stop visiting the state.  It's great conversation about seeing a need and using your skills to create and start something.
