Did we take the entire summer off from the podcast without realizing it? Yes. Did we manage to read and find joy? Sorta! We are counting all wins big and small and we hope everyone else is too. We so appreciate those that are still listening to us ramble about the things we love. We are discussing the absolute brilliance that is REEL by Kennedy Ryan, this one took us through our emotions in a way that was so deftly crafted we decided to make it a...multi(?)-parter. We aren't sure how many episodes but it will be more than one!
Happy Endings Ahoy!! This episode we talk about HER SCOTTISH ROGUE by Dahlia Rose. We got a sexy lady pirate and an equally sexy Scottish pirate. We get into our feelings about what we want in our pirate heroines but ultimately loved this duo, flawed continuity and all.
Dear Gentle Listener,
By now we are all fully enamored and indoctrinated into the Bridgerton universe and all things Regency. And it comes as no surprise that these two Lusty Intellectuals have thoughts and struggles with this offering from ShondaLand and Julia Quinn.
There was lots to love and plenty to raise a dubious, duke-ish brow at as well. Join us if you too had some gut feelings about the series that did not align with all the seemingly universal gushing of the ton!
We have been deep in survival mode the last few months. How about you all? We wanted to take this episode to just talk about a book we loved and felt real joy while reading for the first time in a really long time! We hope everyone is taking care of themselves in whatever capacity you are able to and finding ways to feel hopeful about the future. As always thanks for listening xo
Hi, Hello, Hey there!
We know this episode does not find you well! And that's okay, we are not performing wellness under these traumatic conditions, no ma'am. We are fully embracing the reality we find ourselves in and giving ourselves a chance to be a little messy and just talk about what joys we have found in this time. We are 100% a homegrown podcast so please be patient with us as we marvel at our small technological successes of being able to record better audio from separate locations this episode.
Books we discuss: Beautiful and Dirty by Katrina Jackson, The Hitman by Katrina Jackson, The Wicked West by Victoria Dahl, Get a Life, Chloe Brown by Talia Hibbert, Get A Clue, Dani Brown by Talia Hibbert, Mating the Huntress by Talia Hibbert, Harbor by Rebekah Weatherspoon, The Love Sisters series by Christina C Jones, The Bear and The Barista by Rebel Carter
Look at this point in the quarantine we all just need a garbage sex movie with a devastatingly sexy Italian man in it. Plot? What plot? And yet somehow we have lots to say! Join us as we continue the ongoing discourse about this Netflix movie that is, for whatever lizard brained reason, impossible to look away from.
In this episode, we are joined by Dani from BlackChickLit & The Ice Planet Pod, who loves Alyssa Cole as much as we do! Sex goats, Ninja Turtles, childhood crushes, chicken romance games, dismantling systems of oppression, and a cameo from a cat. It all makes sense in this episode. Join us as we gush over Nya & Johan's love story. They are 2 imperfect people with baggage who love and support each other as they work through their baggage & we loved every minute, plus Johan's glutes. As Dani says in this episode "romance is a good escape when everything is shit".
*We recorded this episode in January 2020.

"The best part of waking up, is some morning smut!" At long last we have the supreme honor of reviewing Ms. Charish Reid's second book HEARTS ON HOLD!!! John is the sexy librarian we didn't know we needed but was so easy to fall in love with, a man that knew his worth and how to use his words! Where do we find a man that'll flirt with poetry and puns?? Where? And Victoria as a type-A personality and a vixen alter ego that was very much our thing. There's so much to love in this book and we hope everyone will go out and read it!!
This episode was recorded before social distancing and safer at home orders were in place, so if we say something outdated its because we recorded this weeks ago. We hope everyone is staying healthy and sane in these times and truly thank you for choosing to listen to us and we hope this episode brightens your day! In this episode we learn all kinds of vocabulary words and explore the dark, kinky world Katee Robert has created in her Villains series.
We love a smart woman who owns her intelligence & so does our hero! A man who nerds out so he can talk to his crush? Yes please! Join us as we review Talk Sweetly to Me by Courtney Milan. Between his puns & her nerdy flirting, we never stood a chance. This episode also includes an extra epilogue (by us) because sometimes we need an extra happy ending.
