حرفِ حق جب ہو سرِ دار تو ہے لطفِ سخن

اپنے اور غیر ہوں سچ کہنے پہ آمادۂ قتل
اور نہ ہو کوئی طرفدار تو ہے لطفِ سخن

مصلحت وقت کی اِقرار سکھائے لیکن
دل میں ہو جرأتِ اِنکار تو ہے لطفِ سخن

ظلم کے، خوف کے، اور موت کے، سنّاٹے میں
ایک اک حرف ہو بیدار تو ہے لطفِ سخن

जब हों रुस्वा सर-ए बाज़ार तो है लुत्फ़-ए सुख़न

और न हो कोई तरफ़दार तो है लुत्फ़-ए सुख़न

मसलहत वक़्त की एक़्रार सिखाए लैकिन
दिल में हो जुर’अत-ए इन्कार तो है लुत्फ़-ए सुख़न

ज़ुल्म के, ख़ौफ़ के, और मौत के, सन्नाटे में
एक एक हर्फ़ हो बेदार तो है लुत्फ़-ए सुख़न

When friend and foe is ready to kill for speaking out truth, and when there is no partisan on your side, then there is pleasure in writing verse.

dil meN ho jur’at3-e inkaar4 to hai lutf-e suKhan 1.purpose, hidden agenda, personal gain 2.agreement, acquiescence 3.courage 4.deny
When the hidden agenda of the time teaches you to acquiesce, but your heart has the courage to deny, then there is pleasure in writing verse.
