Hey everybody. Welcome to Luxfeel Flooring. This is episode number five. My name is Joshua Baxter, the owner, and founder of Luxfeel Flooring, and it's what I live. I love Luxfeel flooring, and I love it. So how much should you pay for hybrid flooring? How much is hybrid flooring? This is a multilayered answer with a question that's kind of spreads far and wide.
First of all, different variations of flooring, different variations of hybrid, um, different thicknesses, board widths, lengths, brands, textures, and building materials will all hold a different pricing structure, and weirdly enough, depending on where you are around the country. So if we talk about the most expensive versions of hybrid, Not necessarily the best versions of hybrid.
The old notion is it's pretty hard to polish. A turd is very true. So whether you have an SPC hybrid that's five millimeters thick or 9.7 millimeters thick, you're still dealing with the old shit house spc. You know, because of the silica content, that's literally the modern asbestos. It doesn't bend. It's got, you know, two G click system that only locks lateral and not vertical.
So there's all those problems. We, we all know these problems. Now, if you've listened to a few of the episodes, um, avoiding the SPC product like the plague, so just because it's 9.7 millimeters thick or five millimeters thicker, still the same. Uh, and avoid that because I know of some, you know, 10 millimeter variations of SPC that are like $80 a square meter, which is a ludicrous, it's, um, markup upon markup upon markup.
And the reason why that board might be $80 a square meter, and this is literally the highest price product in the market, is the manufacturing base, uh, when it gets, goes through an agent from the manufacturer. From the agent, it gets sold to the importer. The importer has the distributor. The distributor has the, you know, essentially rep.
The rep represents the product. That takes it out to the retail network. The retail network will have generally the franchises, the big franchise, they'll have a franchise fee. They'll have the owner of that particular franchise or that particular venue. Then they'll have the salesperson, and then it gets to you the.
The end user, the consumer, the builder, whoever it may be, it's like marked up beyond, marked up beyond marked up. That product theoretically should be selling for no more than 39 50 a square meter. That $80 square meter, 10 millimeter SBC hybrid should be 39 50 a square meter. So it's significant knowing what the industry is and how it is geared and understanding what product you're purchas.
Then will be a direct relation and a good bit of education to how much you should or should not pay for something. So if anyone's offering you an $80 square meter product, that's spc, they are snake oil salesman, like it's, it's fucking, it's a joke. Really. The, the next generation hybrid board, um, this is the sweet zone.
This is the same as the caning Klock Ridge core, the APC lux field, and some. The, um, national flooring stuff, the ipc, so that's the next gen, the next gen hybrids. Okay. So to give you an example, the way that we've condensed the, um, the supply chain where we design here in Australia to the highest spec that we can possibly do with the r and d behind it, we have a partnered manufacturing base.
We import and sell directly to you. That's literally it. No middle. We fucked the middle man off completely. And then in turn we get to focus on quality. We get to focus on, you know, the quality control process too, like, because no hands are touching it.
