Want to be a guest or know someone would be a great fit? I am looking for military vets, active duty, military brats, veteran service orgs or anyone in the fitness industry

Lynn Geiser is an Army Veteran, president of Hope 4 Veterans. Hope4Veteran 501 (C) 3 nonprofit focuses on inspiring and educating our Women Veterans and their families in the State of Florida.

She has earned her Master degree in Human Resource/ Specialization in Marriage and Family Therapy. She started her career after the military as a marriage and family therapist guiding families to connect to one another and how to cope and adapt to struggles in their lives. This led her to continuing to serve her military career as a Soldier for Life/ Employment Specialist for 5 years and eventually to start her nonprofit Hope 4 Veterans to help Women Veterans and their families through struggles and receiving the benefits they deserve.

While she was on active duty, she was a single mom to a 4–5-year-old autism/ ADHD child. He was a special child but also intelligent in many different areas but with doctor appointments and special needs I needed time to attend to him. My unit wasn’t as accommodating because he was special. As a soldier prior to getting custody and bringing my child to active duty I was an outstanding soldier, but as soon as I received emergency custody as a soldier in their eyes, I became a soldier that could not do her duty because of the special needs of the child.

Even as a childcare provider I needed to make sure his needs were attended to and when he had an outburst especially when he started school, I missed a lot of time. Being a single mother and feeling I’m all alone, it was a real struggle. When it was time to put in orders it wasn’t just an easy sign on a dotted line but to make sure I received orders to the nearest hospital and all the needs for my son. It took months before I received orders. After the military career still struggled for services and now it's 26 years later and he struggles with employment and socialization in the community. Moved in with mom again.
