Most people’s life could be summed up in the lyrics of a country song, but Bigg Vinny’s life is entire album of songs...

He was born in a rural Middle Tennessee town to a young mother, who split from his biological father early on and remarried, moving Vinny and his 2 siblings into a home, that would turn out to be a living nightmare.

His childhood was far from picture-perfect. Vinny faced daily battles against the demons of his stepfather, who was physically and mentally abusive. Vinny’s path seemed destined for darkness. But little did he know that these early struggles would be the fuel on his journey to greatness.

At just 14 years old, he made the unthinkable, yet courageous decision to leave his abusive living environment behind and embrace the uncertainty of homelessness. Vinny refused to let his circumstances define him. Getting a job washing trucks to support himself, graduating high school and later becoming the general manager at the local Sonic Drive-In.

Inspired by his dad's legacy, Vinny set his sights on moving to Nashville, the epicenter of the country music industry. Everyone knows that Nashville is a city where dreams are born and legends are made. But it’s also a city where there is a plethora of talent and you have to have the “it” factor to make it.

Vinny faced a unique challenge—a challenge that came in the form of his weight. Clocking in at a hefty 400 pounds, the naysayers couldn't resist spewing their doubts: "You're too fat to make it in the music industry!" But Vinny, with his overwhelming self confidence and a smirk on his face, responded with a resounding "Watch me!"

Within a few months of being in the city where hopes + dreams are strummed on six-strings, Vinny took the stage any chance he could, ready to conquer the world. Writing songs day and night he would go on to get a publishing deal shortly after.

But the birth of the band Trailer Choir—a collaboration with two fellow musicians, marked the dawn of a new chapter for Vinny. The Trailer Choir stood out in part to the 400lb, overall wearing, singer who did the worm on stage and break danced to every song. The band's journey began with an invitation to join the legendary Toby Keith on a major tour, which paved the way for a record deal.

Vinny’s life had transformed into a living dream.

But just like every good dream…you eventually wake up and Vinny's journey suddenly took an unexpected turn.

At just 26 years old, he found himself rushed to the hospital, the diagnosis was harsh—a multitude of health issues, from cellulitis and type 2 diabetes to his liver and kidneys failing. The doctors dropped a bombshell, if he didn’t drastically change his health, with his current conditions…he would be dead in less than 2 years, suggesting gastric bypass surgery as the only way out.

Vinny, stubborn and filled with a burning desire to rewrite his fate, declined the surgery. He knew he had so much to live for, so much more to accomplish.

And as fate would have it….just when he needed it most, a extraordinary opportunity appeared, -he was chosen as a contestant on Season 12 of “The Biggest Loser,"

this would be his chance to transform his life and reclaim his health.

And transform he did.

Week after week, pound after pound…Vinny battled his inner giants both physically and emotionally, he overcame diabetes, and learned the importance of true self love and forgiveness.

Beginning the show at 426lbs. During his time on The Biggest Loser ranch he would shed an astonishing 242 pounds, defying the odds and limitations. Proving that he was and is the writer of his own destiny.

Vinny's voice now echoes far beyond the realms of music, reaching hearts as a motivational speaker and advocate for health + fitness. His very existence has become a living testament to the power of determination.

Recently Vinny entered the podcast realm providing a relatable voice for those seeking guidance, motivation, and a good dose of laughter along the way as a co-host on “The Refined Life Podcast” alongside friends Jared Blake and Jeff Suter.

Vinny’s also taken a leap into the business world, as an investor in The Buffalo River Resort. Creating a place for others to experience the joy of nature and relaxation.

Vinny has taken his experiences and turned them into a powerful message that resonate with people from all walks of life. He continues to inspire others to embrace life's challenges head-on, with a smile on your face and a song in your heart.

Chris Jones, a University of Central Florida (UCF) graduate, is the owner of Synergy Float Spa, in Merritt Island, Florida, a first-of-its-kind facility dedicated to making its clients the best human beings they can be through holistic wellness modalities Chris is a disabled veteran who served as an officer for over 24 years in the Army, Air Force, and Navy. At some point in his military career, his fight or flight nervous system response stopped turning on and off and was continually stuck in the “on” position.

After Chris retired, the VA recommended traditional talk therapy and some hardcore pharmaceuticals to help turn it off.

Those solutions did not resonate with him, and he began to look for alternative solutions. His journey took him to Peru, where, on an extended visit in 2016, floatation therapy was revealed to him. Shortly after his return home to Virginia, he bought a Zen float tent (now out of business) and set it up in his home. After some amazing results, and with no business expertise, Chris quit his job and opened his first Synergy Float

Spa in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia, and started his quest to make everyone a better human being one float at a time.

Returning to Florida in early 2023, Chris purchased an historic 1926 building in the Old Park Place area of Merritt Island with the goal of offering Florida’s Space Coast residents the opportunity to make themselves the best they can be--mentally, physically, and spiritually through floating. And in pursuit of that goal, he has spent nearly two

years renovating his Merritt Island purchase, transforming it into his second Synergy Float Spa.

Chris has found that floating helps reduce stress, anxiety, aches and pains, depression, and provides an overall sense of well-being and connectedness to our Universe. Many professional athletes, like Tom Brady, and Steph Curry, use floating to enhance their performance and their recovery after their sporting events. Chris, a self-described

Not only is the Lord using him to set many free, but today John, by God’s incredible grace, has received his Doctorate degree of Divinity through Life Christian University by the precious man of God Dr. Wingate and Dr. Susan, founders of this prestigious college. He received his earned Bachelor’s degree as well and his ordination papers. Praise be to God for this incredible blessing.

Matthew’s Hope Ministries began as a response to inclement weather in 2010, when the temperature dipped below 39 degrees. The dangerous weather prompted founder, Pastor Scott Billue and a few friends, to ask churches in the area to temporarily house the homeless population who stayed outside. Although many turned him away, the West Orange Church of Christ eagerly agreed, and over the course of several weeks, allowed people in this community to sleep, eat and stay warm inside their building, sometimes days at a time.

 

Volunteers in the community heard about the freeze warning ministry and stepped up to help, cleaning bathrooms and helping to feed the people. As the temperatures warmed, Pastor Scott and others could not just walk away from the obvious, ongoing needs of the homeless community of west Orange County.

 

Together, Matthew’s Hope Ministries was created.  

Who and what is Matthew's Hope Ministries today? 

 

Based in Winter Garden, the ministry is a fully Independent, faith-based, 501(c)3 non-profit homeless outreach ministry organization completely funded and supported by the local community, and exclusively serving west Orange County. Volunteers and staff members of Matthew’s Hope Ministries help connect guests with various resources and services of need. 

 

The ministry believes in offering a hand up, not just a hand out. 

 

The ministry receives no government funding.

Why Does Matthew's Hope Ministries choose this path? 

 

The scriptural call of Matthew 25: 35-40 says it all:

 

'For I was hungry and you gave Me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited Me in, I needed clothes and you clothed Me, I was sick and you looked after Me, I was in prison and you came to visit Me.’

Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give You something to drink? When did we see You a stranger and invite You in, or needing clothes and clothe You? When did we see You sick or in prison and go to visit You?’

The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for Me.’
