The Massachusetts House of Representatives passed what they are describing as a “transparency bill” called, An Act Promoting Transparency and Public Access in State Government. The bill is in direct response to the ongoing legal battle brought forth by State Auditor Diana DiZoglio, to audit the State Legislature. The measure would allow DiZoglio to audit the administrative functions of both the House and Senate but would not allow an audit of “constitutional functions.” House Speaker Ron Mariano says it would, “establish a clear framework for legislative audits conducted by the State Auditor.
