कश्चन निर्धनः दीनः जनः आसीत् यस्य निबिडं श्मश्रु, दीर्घाः नखाः, जीर्णं दुर्गन्धयुक्तं वस्त्रं च आसीत् । जनाः तम् उन्मत्तः इति वदन्ति स्म । कदाचित् कश्चन सहृदयः तरुणः विनयः तं जनं दृष्ट्वा मनसि बहुविधैः प्रश्नैः पीडितः अभवत् । द्वितीये दिने सः तस्मै एकं कदलीफलम् अयच्छत् । अग्रिमे दिने विनयाय एकं पत्रम् आगतम् - भवान् मुख्यमन्त्रिणः सहयोगित्वेन नियुक्तः इति । यदा सः अग्रिमे दिने मन्त्रालयं प्राप्तवान् तदा मुख्यमन्त्री तस्य कण्ठे पुष्पमालां स्थापयित्वा सत्कारम् अकरोत् । कारणम् आसीत् यत् मुख्यमन्त्री एव उन्मत्तः इव वेषान्तरं धृत्वा लोकानां परीक्षणाय तथा आकृतिं निर्मितवान् आसीत् ।
