Travis Black began his teaching career at the Valley Academy for Career and Technology Education five years ago with a passion and desire to share his expertise of the construction industry while leading students into becoming compassionate and hard-working members of their community.  Travis brings a wealth of knowledge to the construction program gained through his experiences in all aspects of residential and commercial construction, heavy equipment operation as well as those skills developed as a Navy veteran having served in Operations Desert Storm and Southern Watch.  Travis is a promoter of CTE not only locally but throughout the state having presented at the Arizona SkillsUSA conference, the Arizona ACTE conference, and the National ACTE Career Vision conference.   Combining volunteer service, work-place experience, attainment of multiple industry certifications, dual enrollment credits and SkillsUSA into his program, Travis has produced students with excellent skills and leadership abilities.  His construction students and SkillsUSA members have completed more than 8,000 hours of volunteer service.  His program’s advisory board has a membership of nearly 30.  Students in the SkillsUSA chapter have served as regional and state officers and have earned multiple awards including first place nationally for Models of Excellence Workplace Skills.  When not working tirelessly with his construction students, Travis enjoys motorcycles, rodeos, coaching wrestling, and spending time with family.

Brianna has eight years of industry experience, an OSHA 10-hour Construction Training certification, and she was the first person to receive a Section 333 Exemption-Drone pilot certification.
