Madame Perry's Salon

Saxophonist Dave Koz has just released A New Day, his 20th album as an artist and first collection of original material in 10 years. Conceived and recorded completely under the umbrella of COVID-19, this album’s purpose is to give the listener a ‘musical hug’, hopefully providing a sense of comfort and good feeling amidst the intense backdrop of the pandemic we are all experiencing globally. With a roster of very special guests including David Sanborn, Bob James, Brian McKnight, Meshell Ndgeocello, Rick Braun and more…all of whom recorded their parts virtually…30 years and one day after the release of Dave’s debut album.

It is a thrill to have Dave here on Madame Perry's Salon!

Tonight's scheduled guest, Dr. Raymond A. Moody, Jr., has had to reschedule.

So since I'm here and you're here I'm playing music from some of our favorite folks. Bruce Sudano, Killy Dwyer, Joe Symes & The Loving Kind, Darryl Rhoades, Moses Mo, Frenchy & The Punk, and The Jennifer Perry Combo.

Actress and comedian Arden Myrin is my special guest tonight. Myrin plays Regina Sinclair on the Netflix series Insatiable. She joined the cast of season seven of Showtime's Shameless, and appeared in the world premiere of Steve Martin's play Meteor Shower at the Long Wharf Theatre.

Arden's new book, Little Miss Little Compton, is absolutely laugh out loud hilarious.

Dawne Richards is an Inspirational leader with extensive experience in strategic planning, organizational optimization, management and mentoring, corporate communications, and audience measurement design and analysis. The co-founder of Pompano Media Group, publishing Pompano Today magazine, she is also an excellent writer and in demand as a motivational speaker.

As explained on her blog she calls herself Coach Dawne as a (mostly) tongue-in-cheek reference to my experience in a wide range of life events. I’ve got a wealth of experience in many different areas, both personal and professional, but it’s not always clear to me what I’ve learned from my mistakes, so maybe you can! Kidding. I’ve learned many valuable lessons that I’m happy to share with you. Also, I do enjoy humor, even (and perhaps especially) when it’s at my own expense. Life is pretty grim without the ability to laugh at yourself.

The New York Times bestselling author of nine memoirs and five adult novels and one YA book, Jen Lancaster has sold well over a million books. She has appeared on The Today Show, The Joy Behar Show, and Fox News Live.

After a corporate layoff in 2001, down on her luck, and stuck selling off cars, jewelry, and designer purses, Jen launched a website to air her frustrations about unemployment. She began detailing her descent from designer clothing and spa visits to the unemployment line on her blog jennsylvania.com.

Her acerbic wit quickly won the blog a massive following.  Jen’s first memoir, Bitter is the New Black, was published by the Penguin Random House imprint NAL in 2006. Since then, she has published one book a year and her memoir The Tao of Martha was optioned for a sitcom by FOX.”

Republican Jesus Author Tony Keddie Visits Madame Perry's Salon

The complete guide to debunking right-wing misinterpretations of the Bible—from economics and immigration to gender and sexuality. Jesus loves borders, guns, unborn babies, and economic prosperity and hates homosexuality, taxes, welfare, and universal healthcare—or so say many Republican politicians, pundits, and preachers. Through outrageous misreadings of the New Testament gospels that started almost a century ago, conservative influencers have conjured a version of Jesus who speaks to their fears, desires, and resentments.

In Republican Jesus, Tony Keddie explains not only where this right-wing Christ came from and what he stands for but also why this version of Jesus is a fraud. By restoring Republicans’ cherry-picked gospel texts to their original literary and historical contexts, Keddie dismantles the biblical basis for Republican positions on hot-button issues like Big Government, taxation, abortion, immigration, and climate change. At the same time, he introduces readers to an ancient Jesus whose life experiences and ethics were totally unlike those of modern Americans, conservatives and liberals alike.
