Utah author Rachel Anne Cox offers a literary dystopian novel for adults which owes much of its realness to her skill as a researcher for historical book themes.

A Light From The Ashes is set in the future wasteland of Virginia where Sam, the son of revolutionaries, wants nothing more than to leave the violence of his past behind him, but the impending Third Revolution and the two women he loves may not let him. With his loyalties torn between his affection for Sophie and maintaining the tentative peace which has prevailed in the land, Sam must navigate the fine lines between peace and rebellion, love and hate, while trying to find his humanity in an inhumane world and within himself.

As a musician who is also writing songs for her book trailer and a companion EP, Cox will also be reading and performing at music venues along her tour route.

Stress: A Surprising Rx for Peace

It seems stress is never in short supply. According to the news, jobs are in short supply, affordable housing is in short supply, safety, clean water, and even good relationships are hard to come by.  But not stress. Stress and the guarantee of more stress ranks up there with death and taxes; in other words, it’s inevitable.

However, Dr. Dravon James, motivational speaker, author, and Everyday Peacemaker,  believes that the more stress shows up in life, the more opportunities for genuine self-love.

A. L. Walker visits Madame Perry's Salon to discuss her fantastic debut novel It Happened In The Cove, which you've likely heard is getting mad pre-pub buzz! This is a fairy tale that rejects the traditional tropes of masculine and feminine in favor of pure fantasy and escape for readers who are ultrasensitive to violence, upset, and reminders of traditional mores. Theirs is a story of healing from abuse, of finding new hope in strange places, of exploring their cultures and spirituality, and of reconciling their past with what they learn together.

Walker, who lives in Arizona with her husband and children, writes fiction while surrounded by parrots, guinea pigs, and other lovely things. Her stories span many genres and often include non-traditional characters. She has a soft spot for small YouTube gamers and Route 66. Her sister, HarleyCyn, is a popular cosplayer.
