Planet 13, a multistate cannabis company, is on track to open one of its first retail cannabis dispensaries in Illinois, located in Suburban Waukegan.

The decision comes as the company is looking to tailor its adult-use cannabis products to customers from the North Chicago Suburb, where they currently hold a dispensary license, according to a local press release.

Planet 13 also holds licenses in Las Vegas and California and recently expanded its business to Florida to build out “neighborhood model” stores. But since the state has a smaller footprint to cater exclusively to medicinal-use patients, the company will now expand its store operations to the Midwest.

Bob Groesbeck, the co-CEO of the SuperStore model, says, “We couldn’t have a better spot to place our dispensary off the major interstate between Milwaukee and Chicago.” He also hopes for a more disciplined and patient approach, affordable pricing, cash management, and creating one-of-a-kind retail destinations designed to thrill their valued customers.
